In current international society, it has become necessary for the Japanese medical institutions to establish the systems that support non-Japanese residents in Japan and visitors from other countries. The accreditation system (Japan Medical Services Accreditation for International Patients: JMIP) has been established as a part of a national project which promotes smooth acceptance of international patient in Japanese medical settings. The accreditation has been developed based on the “Support project of establishing accreditation system for medical institutions accepting international patients”, which was implemented by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare in fiscal year 2011.
The Japan Medical Education Foundation evaluates the institution's capability of accepting international patients from neutral and impartial standpoints as the operation agency. Through evaluating medical institutions, our goal is to build the system that international patients can receive internationally highly rated Japanese medical services safely and reliably.
