■General overview
Your hospital is an advanced acute care hospital close to Kansai International Airport, as well as a model hospital for international medical care in Japan. It is evaluated highly for implementing clinical practice every day in response to wide ranging expectations and trust with regard to medical care for non-Japanese. The hospital also implemented improvements sincerely in response to the findings at the time of the previous on-site survey. However, your hospital’s external environment has changed more rapidly than expected, such as the rapid increase in medical care for non-Japanese expected following COVID-19’s change of classification to a type 5 infectious disease. To continue being a hospital that provides more ideal medical care to non-Japanese without being content with the achievement of certification standards, you will need to accumulate improvements in response to our findings in each classification, and strengthen horizontal cooperation not only in international clinical departments, but throughout the hospital as a whole.
With regard to the handling of acceptance, we expect that you will give consideration based on the reformulation of entry rules for the records on and sharing of information collected from patients so that you have an effective, uniform operation throughout the hospital as a whole. With regard to patient services, matters such as the refinement of the maintenance of multilingual hospital noticeboards, etc., and the promotion of management improvements are desirable. Please strive to ensure the effectiveness of the management of medical care provision while advancing the appropriate management of multilingual documents and giving consideration so that it does not become complicated for healthcare professionals in the field. A pioneering organization has already been completed in terms of organizational structure and management so from now on, please consider rebuilding while promoting the medical safety system, and consider further securing transparency as seen from outside. Various practical activities have already been conducted as initiatives for improvements so we expect initiatives to improve their effectiveness while giving consideration so that the burden on the field does not become excessive.
You have implemented many desirable pioneering efforts in various aspects, and individual personal knowledge has been accumulated within your organization so you may be at the stage of converting that vast knowledge into formal knowledge and sharing it across the hospital from now on without letting it remain in tacit form. We hope that you will make a further leap forward not only as a pioneering hospital in medical care for non-Japanese in Japan, but also as a leading hospital that represents Japan in the field of medical care for non-Japanese by continuing the accumulation of steps like those above.
